Landscape Maintenance is a crucial part of general landscaping in maintaining a new installation or one that has matured for years. This includes:
1. Lawn cutting: Your new lawn should be cut once a week at a height of 3" - 3 1/2". During the summer months. During the cooler months, cutting at 2" - 2 1/2" is recommended.
2. Fertilizing: Your new lawn will require fertilizer every 6-7 weeks to maintain good color and promote heavy root development for a thick lawn.
3. Herbicides: Your new lawn will require periodic weed control applications to maintain a weed free lawn. Normally, between the fertilizing and herbicidal treatments, 4-5 applications will be expected.
4. Watering: The most important ingredient to achieve strong vigorous growth in a lawn. During the warm season, water once a day for 15-20 minutes per section.
5. Trees and Shrubs: It is very important to trim your trees and shrubs one to two times a year to maintain its form and density.
6. Fertilizing: Your trees and shrubs will require a minimal of one spring feeding for good color and development.
7. Spraying: Your trees and shrubs should be sprayed at a minimal of two times a year to check for insects and diseases.
8. Watering: Trees and shrubs will require water once a week if drought conditions exist. Water trees and shrubs thoroughly for 1/2 hour so that water reaches the root zone.
9. Mulching: Mulch all beds once a year to help suppress weeds and retain moisture for plants.
10. Edging: Bed edges should be maintained once every other week to maintain a crisp look throughout the property.
11. Weeding: Maintaining weed free bedding is crucial for good plant development. A weed free environment allows plants to take up nutrients that may be deprived if weeds exist. This should be done every other week.
12. Leaf Removal: It is imperative that all leaves are removed from beds and lawn areas to allow good air movement and to prevent diseases from establishing.
